Aluminium Composite Panels

Overview

Aluminium composite panels offer a cost-effective and high-quality alternative to solid aluminium sheets. They are significantly lighter, making them easier to process and fabricate. These sheets consist of a polyethylene core bonded with thin aluminium skins (0.10 to 0.5 mm thick) on both sides, giving them the appearance and feel of solid aluminium while being easy to cut and bend. Available in various colors with a precise finish, they are ideal for a range of applications.

Formats

Aluminium composite sheets come in three different grades:

1. Signage Grade

- Lifespan: Approximately 5 years

- Coating: PE factory coating

- Features: Suitable for self-adhesive vinyl application. Can be painted (though not recommended).

- Ideal for franchises needing a combination of cladding and vinyl applications, with an average corporate image lifespan of 8 to 10 years.

2. Lite Grade

- Lite means it has a skin of 0.1mm to 0.15mm so not suitable for bending or fabrication. It does have the same PE coating as signage grade for long outdoor life ( 5 years )

3. Construction Grade

- Lifespan: Up to 15 years with a special PVDF color base

- Coating: Carbon fluoro coating for enhanced outdoor durability

- Features: The surface repels substances, making it unsuitable for self-adhesive vinyl applications.

- Ideal for building cladding, as it requires no painting for a very long time.

Applications

These sheets are perfect for building cladding, signage, and other applications where durability, ease of fabrication, and a high-quality finish are important. Their lightweight nature and customizable appearance make them a versatile choice for various projects.

Cleaning Method for ACP Sheeting

The cleaning approach for ACP Sheets varies based on the type of ACP sheet and its application, whether indoors or outdoors.

Surface Finishes

ACP is available in different surface finishes, including:

  • Coated (e.g., signage-grade PE or construction-grade PVDF)

For coated sheets, use a mild detergent, such as dish soap or pure cleaning alcohol, applied with a terry cloth. To dry, use a microfiber cloth, which is also ideal for dusting. Avoid using high-pressure cleaners.

  • Brushed ACP

Brushed sheets can be cleaned with the same mild cleaning agents, but never use abrasive materials, as they can disrupt the surface pattern and create unwanted reflections. Always clean brushed sheets in the direction of the sanding pattern using a soft, lint-free terry cloth.

For outdoor panels, such as signposts or nameplates, you may encounter algae or soot deposits. Use only mild detergents and a soft brush to gently remove these deposits—avoid aggressive cleaners or acids, as they can damage the finish.

For both brushed and mirrored finishes, ensure that the top varnish remains intact during cleaning, as this layer provides essential protection.
